ELLICOTT CITY, MARYLAND May 1, 2017- Rob Ryerson returns from France with the US Boys U16 Youth National Team

Rob Ryerson, Ellicott City’s Director of Soccer Operations and Player Development recently returned from coaching as an Assistant Coach with the US Boys U16 National Team in the 45th Annual Mondial Football Tournament in Montaigu, France.  The team played four matches total, beating both Belgium 1-0 and Mexico 3-0, before losing to Japan 3-2 and Brasil 2-0.  The tournament featured some of the best players in the country representing the 2001 birth year.  “This was a great experience to work with some of our best players in the country and represent the United States in International competition.”  Ryerson said.  Rob continues to be apart of the US Soccer Scouting network, in which he is identifying the top players in the area at selected US Training Centers around the region.  He will be coaching the 2005 City Black team moving into the 2017-18 seasonal year.



Ellicott CiTY Soccer Club is excited to announce that Howard County native, Rob Ryerson will be joining the club as the new Director of Soccer Operations and Player Development. Rob brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club as he most recently has guided the Potomac Soccer Association as it’s Technical Director. He will join “CiTY” at the end of this seasonal year upon completion of his current commitments. 
While attending Oakland Mills High School in Columbia, he won a Maryland State Championship and also was named the Howard County “Player of the Year”. Rob then went on to be a two time All-American at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  
After college, Rob played Professional soccer over 8 seasons with various teams to include the local professional clubs the Baltimore Blast, Maryland Bays and Washington Warthogs. He also went on to play with the US National Team scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Costa Rica on June 14th, 1988. 
After playing professionally, Rob has been equally successful coaching at all levels in the game to include High School, College and in the Professional ranks. As a USSF “A” Licensed coach, Rob is also an instructor for the Maryland State Soccer Association and is currently a US Soccer Scout identifying the most talented players in the country. He also has most recently served as an Assistant Coach for the U18 US Men’s National Team.
