PATHWAY PROGRAM

In accordance to our core philosophy of servicing all levels of play, we have created the Pathway Program for ages u8-u12. The ECSC Pathway Program is designed for those who want to play competitively in the local travel leagues and local tournaments.  All players participating in the Pathway Program will have one team training session per week with a volunteer coach off site and inclusion in ECSC Technical Training sessions conducted by our professional training staff.  Pathway teams will participate in local youth leagues including CMSA, BBSL and OBSL/CMSSL, and will attend two tournaments per year. These players will be US Youth Soccer carded and may be used in league games and tournaments on our travel teams.

There is not a separate tryout process for our Pathway program. All participants interested in our Travel or Pathway Program need to attend our Travel tryouts.  The coaches and evaluators will assess the players at tryouts, and recommend a CITY program that best fits their development. The options are Travel, Pathway, or our Foundations Program.

Kevin Dempsey, the Loyola University of Maryland Women's Assistant Coach, leads the Pathway Program.

For 2016/2017, the total costs include Pathway team fees, Club Dues, and a uniform kit. (See prices below). In addition, we expect our Pathway families to volunteer with our club.  Details about our volunteer opportunities with the club are listed below.

CITY Volunteer expectations and "Opt-out Fee"- $100 per account/family

Not only does volunteering support the club philosophy of development of the player on and off the field, but it also fosters a club culture and serves as a platform to create strong relationships between CITY families, coaches, players, and staff.

As a member of CITY, we expect the families of our players to volunteer four hours per season or eight hours per year. However, if you are unable to fulfill this request, you may choose to opt out and pay the volunteer opt-out fee of $100 per account/family at the time of registration. To ensure the success of our programs, we rely heavily on volunteers. Here are examples of volunteer opportunities within CITY that utilizes club members to function and to keep costs down for our participants.

  • Our free Special Needs Clinic, "Schools Out" and Homeschooled Families clinics, and our Pathway Program.
  • Club-wide events such as the CITY Kickoff BBQ, Bingo Night and the Spring Golf/Raffle Fundraiser, all of which help support our Scholarship Fund.
  • CITY will host our first club tournament in October 2016. The Ellicott City Soccer CUP.
  • CITY supports community events
  • Concession stand at home matches as a service to the families attending games.
  • Field set up and tear down.
  • Lining of the fields.
